Happy Holidays and a Look Back …and Forward

As we near 2015 – ISM’s 30th anniversary – I admit to reflecting back. When I founded ISM in early 1985 to offer guidance to organizations seeking effective ways to strategically manage their customer relationships, “sales force automation” software was offered as the one-stop solution. ISM was a lonely voice when I proposed a portfolio of best practices including ISM’s signature “top-down/bottom-up” methodology to integrate people, process and technology to ensure the success of customer-centric initiatives. We nonetheless would not be here nearly 30 years later without innovative and dedicated best-in-class organizations – our clients – who seek effective ways to reach, understand, and service their clients. Thank you for your continuing partnership.

Looking ahead, I want to share good news regarding my new book on Social CRM. It is to be published in spring 2015 by Pearson, the global publisher. We will keep you informed.

We had a very interesting and well-attended webinar season this year. To our many webinar attendees and co-sponsors and guest presenters, we appreciate your continuing participation in our new 2015 webinar season.

As an industry speaker, I had the pleasure of presenting at a number of events this year, ranging from “huge” such as Dreamforce’14 in San Francisco to “focused”, e.g., Direct Marketing News Summit in NYC. I also enjoyed speaking at software vendor user conferences, e.g., Aptean, Infor, during which time I spoke with many of today’s sophisticated CRM software users. And, always a highlight for me is my two executive workshop presentations at CRM Evolution 2014 in NYC – one on Social CRM and the second on Data Analytics & Multi-Channel Optimization. It was a “full house” and very invigorating.

I also want to note the awarding of ISM’s prestigious Top 15 CRM Software Awards in April 2015. The recipients – selected based on ISM Software Lab’s unbiased testing – are the leaders in the industry.
