AR Technologies Accelerates the Design and Prototyping of New Products

BMW is currently using augmented reality technology to stream and work on 3D graphics. The Holo-Light Augmented Reality Engineering Space AR3S product allows engineers to visualize their own 3D CAD models and work collaboratively on them.

Engineers can visualize their data in an AR space, and people can come together to interact on a model. These people can do design reviews, make assembly checks and use the data for future training.

BMW staff can collaborate between different locations. The major benefit is the savings in travel time for the staff as they can get together and communicate in virtual space.
