One of the most important conferences about display technology took place in San Jose, CA in early May 2025. Known as the SID conference, it is the premier technology show about all forms of displays used in information and consumer technologies.

Just about every form of technology requires some type of display to work. Each year, this show focuses on new innovations in displays.

One new theme this year from both the vendors and the conference sessions was how AI will impact everything from designing new types of displays to software for use in these new devices. The show even had a dedicated track on machine learning and AI and its impact on the future of new forms of imaging and software’s role in advanced display technology.

Another new focus of this year’s SID conference was on XR and AR displays. I attended many sessions at this symposium, including one on AR displays and other emerging AR/VR technologies.
